Dhakai Jamdani Sarees

Jamdani is a type of woven fabric, typically made of cotton muslin. Jamdani sarees are made on a brocade loom and are very light and airy.
The word "Jamdani" is derived from "Jam" meaning flower and "Dani", a vase, the sarees are characterised by intricate floral and plant motifs.
The weaving technique, which is of Bengal origin, is highly labour intensive and time consuming and has been declared by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. They are traditionally woven around Dhaka, Bangladesh.
