Phulkari

Phulkari or flower work is a traditional folk art that had its origins in the Punjab region of India and Pakistan. It is an all-over embroidery that makes patterns to resemble a garden of flowers. Normally it is done on the rough side of silk or khaddar cotton using coloured silken thread to create a darn stitch. It is worn a lot during weddings and other auspicious occassions. The most popular design is the all-over bagh pattern that represents a garden of flowers.
